Just 14 months after being engaged in a catastrophic vehicle accident that fractured his right leg and rendered him immobilized for an extended period of time, Tiger Woods made his startling comeback to professional golf at the 2022 Masters Tournament. He took an additional month off after making the Augusta cut before starting his round at the PGA Championship. He stayed for the weekend once again, but it was cut short when he withdrew from the competition after limping to a third-round score of 79.
The U.S. Open, which takes place this weekend at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, will not include Tiger Woods as anticipated, disappointing golf fans. What is the reason for Tiger’s absence from the U.S. Open, and when can we expect him back?

It was clear that Woods was playing with agony the whole time, despite doing well enough to make the cut at both the Masters and the PGA Championship. His limp increased in severity as the rounds went on. Every day it was painful to see him stumble to the finish line.
Woods is aware that his health isn’t at a point where it would enable him to compete for a major title right now, much less the U.S. Open. Thus, Tiger said he would not be taking part a week before the third major of the year.
“I previously informed the USGA that I will not be competing in the @usopengolf as my body needs more time to get stronger for major championship golf,” Woods wrote in a tweet. “I do hope and plan to be ready to play in Ireland at @JPProAm and at @TheOpen next month. I’m excited to get back out there soon!”
Woods won’t ever play a tournament unless he sincerely feels he can win, which is sad news for golf fans worldwide. Prior to the U.S. Open, it is obvious that he does not feel that way.

Woods is unlikely to be able to play a full schedule on the PGA Tour once again. It’s somewhat disheartening that he doesn’t feel strong enough to compete in the U.S. Open this weekend since he’s going to concentrate on staying fit for the major championships and other key tournaments.
However, Tiger’s much anticipated comeback to golf was met with a challenge. Golfers must endure difficult, mountainous hikes at Augusta National, Southern Hills, and The Country Club. A flatter track will give him a far greater chance of completing it in four consecutive days.
Now let’s talk about St. Andrews, which will host the Open Championship next month.
