The New York Knicks Are Buyers and a Deal for Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox Should Be the Next Move

Sacramento Kings’ star De’Aaron Fox has recently been traded to the New York Knicks. The move was expected given what it would take for Sacramento to keep their franchise player in line with a weak roster and no other big names on the horizon. That being said, this is an excellent opportunity for New York – who will now get a long-term contributor without having to give up anything significant in return.

The New York Knicks are buyers and a deal for Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox should be the next move. The team has been looking for a point guard after trading Derrick Rose to the Utah Jazz.

The New York Knicks proved to be buyers at this year’s trade deadline, acquiring Cam Reddish from the Atlanta Hawks, confirming rumors. New York needed a lift in order to climb the Eastern Conference rankings and secure a playoff place.

Now is the moment for the Knickerbockers to make their big move in order to not only reach the playoffs, but to go all the way.

Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings, including star point guard De’Aaron Fox, are open to offers for anybody on the roster. Despite a disappointing year, Fox remains one of the most explosive players in the game at his position.

The Kings, on the other hand, are looking to make their first playoff appearance in 15 years.

A transaction that sends Fox to the Garden and a few pieces back west is a win-win situation for two teams looking to make playoff noise.

The New York Knicks are still the subject of speculations.

Sources at ESPN: The Atlanta Hawks have agreed to trade forward Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks in exchange for a protected first-round selection in 2022 through Charlotte. In exchange for Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round selection, the Knicks get Solomon Hill and a 2025 second-round pick from Brooklyn.

For a long time, New York has been attempting to find a point guard. Kemba Walker, a former UConn standout, was signed by the Knicks in free agency, but it looks that his injuries and age have caught up with him.

According to The Athletic, the Knicks have been connected to Detroit’s Jerami Grant and Indiana big Myles Turner as the trade deadline approaches.

With the Knicks at 21-21 and 10th in the East — the last play-in place — with a deal for Reddish already completed, the franchise seems to be at least attempting to make the playoffs a foregone conclusion.

However, if the Knicks want to make a big impact and go from playoff club to Finals contender, they’ll have to make some serious changes.

Sacramento, on the other hand, is 10th in their conference and clinging to the last play-in place.

The Kings are knotted with the Portland Trail Blazers, who look to be on the decline, while the New Orleans Pelicans, who are without Zion Williamson, are a half-game behind.

Sacramento hasn’t been to the playoffs in almost a decade. The squad hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2005-06, and the organization is obviously keen to alter that.

To keep clubs like Portland and New Orleans at bay, the Kings need a shakeup. According to The Athletic, they look to be open to any deal that provides them with that, even a trade involving their star point guard.

That shakeup may include sending Fox to New York and recalibrating a rotation that is more solid and balanced.

The Knicks’ next step should be to trade for De’Aaron Fox.

The deal:

New York Knicks receive: De’Aaron Fox

Sacramento Kings receive: Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Kemba Walker, Alec Burks, 2023 top-five protected first-round pick, 2025 lottery-protected first-round pick

In this transaction, a lot of pieces are headed west, but it’s for the best.

Toppin and Quickley are the two young players with the ability to make these kind of agreements work, particularly as the Kings strive to reach the playoffs.

The two first-round picks, though, are the true bargain in the deal. The draft of 2023 is already shaping up to be one of the greatest in recent memory. A lottery-protected choice three years from now is also a good bet.

For pay considerations, Walker and Burks must be engaged.

The Knicks, on the other hand, are receiving the best player in the trade. Even when he’s having a bad year, Fox remains one of the NBA’s most athletic and explosive attacking guards, something the Knicks don’t have on their roster right now.

Only a season ago, the 24-year-old was regarded as one of the finest point guards in the game. He becomes the Knicks’ top player if/when he regains his form.

Tyrese Haliburton, a more consistent playmaker than Fox, can now formally take over the club in Sacramento. The Kings can still add quality players like Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, and Richaun Holmes to their roster.

As a pick-and-roll lob threat alongside Haliburton, Quickley can help replace Fox’s vacuum in the backcourt, and Toppin’s potential as a pick-and-roll lob threat is enticing. Those players are now of assistance. The suggestions will be beneficial in the future.

The agreement ensures that each franchise gets what it wants this year and in the future.

Come playoff time, the pact would benefit both organizations.

In today’s NBA, a team can’t have serious championship hopes without at least one superstar. The Knicks have a chance to win one thanks to Fox.

He was on the verge of reaching that level a year ago.

The Knicks look to be preparing up for a deep run right now, as if a playoff berth isn’t enough.

They’ll have to swing for the fences if they want to succeed. That swing is acquiring a player of Swipa’s level.
