The New York Giants Just Unintentionally Offered the Philadelphia Eagles a Much-Needed Gift

The New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles are both going through times at their respective universities, with the former being placed on academic probation while the latter still has to compete in bowl games. With their football rivalry revived by a win for Big Blue last weekend, they did something that could make this game even more exciting: They traded jerseys.,

The “philadelphia eagles rumors 2022” is a gift that the New York Giants Just Unintentionally Offered the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are in need of some defensive help and this might be an opportunity for them to get it.

During a successful NFL draft weekend for general manager Howie Roseman, the Philadelphia Eagles addressed numerous needs. They ultimately discovered A.J. Brown as their new No. 1 wide receiver, added Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean from one of the top defenses in college football history, and landed Cam Jurgens as Jason Kelce’s eventual successor.

Although Roseman and company had a fantastic weekend, Philadelphia’s roster still has a few weaknesses moving into the 2022-23 season. The cornerback position opposite Darius Slay is one of those gaps.

There aren’t many good cornerbacks remaining in free agency, but the New York Giants surprised their division opponent by releasing former Pro Bowler James Bradberry.

The Eagles have yet to find a starting cornerback.

Roseman and the Eagles have had a fantastic offseason so far. Philadelphia had gaps at wide receiver, defensive line, linebacker, cornerback, and safety before the spring season, and the front office moved fast to fill virtually all of them.

In March, the Eagles signed pass rusher Haason Reddick to a three-year contract before re-signing Fletcher Cox and Derek Barnett and selecting Davis to strengthen the defensive line. The additions of Kyzir White in free agency and Dean through the draft significantly improved the linebacking corps. Then there was the surprising deal on NFL draft night that sent Brown to Philadelphia to take over as the No. 1 wide receiver for Jalen Hurts.

Philadelphia’s roster is already more skilled than it was at any time last season, but the starting cornerback position opposite Slay remains a major unknown. Second-year CB Zech McPhearson would most likely start if the season began today. The Eagles would be hesitant to send McPhearson out in Week 1 since he only started one game as a rookie and completed the season with just one pass defense and seven solo tackles.

Last year, Roseman signed Steven Nelson days before training camp to fill the team’s CB2 vacancy at the last minute. Over the next several months, you can guarantee he’ll be looking for an experienced starter.

The Eagles may have just received their new starting cornerback from the Giants.

Before the start of the 2022-23 season, the Eagles need to recruit a quality CB2. Fortunately for them, their arch-rival in the division just handed them the ideal answer on a silver platter.

After two seasons with the Giants, former Pro Bowl CB James Bradberry was released on Monday. Bradberry has accumulated 82 passes defended and 15 interceptions in his first six years in the NFL, making him a playmaker in the secondary. In the previous five seasons, he’s only missed two games, which should interest an Eagles squad that has been plagued by secondary ailments in recent years.

The Eagles have $10.2 million in salary room to throw at Bradberry, according to Over the Cap. Philly should make a strong effort to sign the former Giant, who is now the obvious No. 1 CB available in free agency.

Now is not the time for complacency, Howie. Make the decision.
