The Latest Report on Tom Brady Will Make Saints Fans Sick to Their Stomachs

The New Orleans Saints were back in the playoffs, and for the first time since 2009, they were the NFC South champions. They defeated the Carolina Panthers in the Wild Card round, and will now host the Minnesota Vikings in the Divisional round.

It’s no secret that New Orleans Saints fans are a passionate bunch, but it seems like the most recent news about Tom Brady has them all topsy turvy. On Sunday, the NFL announced the quarterback would be suspended for four games following the NFLPA’s appeal of his four-game suspension for “Deflategate.” Brady is the only player in NFL history to have his suspension overturned on appeal before it was handed down.

The New Orleans Saints made a very big trade yesterday (Friday) when they sent star Quarterback Drew Brees to the San Diego Chargers in return for a boatload of draft picks. The deal was viewed by many as a win for the Chargers after Brees announced his retirement this offseason. However, some Saints fans are not happy with the new look.. Even die-hard New Orleans Saints fans have to admit that Drew Brees hasn’t always lived up to expectations in the final years of his career with the team. While injuries have affected this, it doesn’t change the fact that the Saints have been eliminated early from the postseason in each of the last four seasons.

And as much as New Orleans fans respect Brees for his tenacity and dedication to the franchise, they have to feel uncomfortable with the latest report about one of his colleagues. With Tom Brady about to lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to another Super Bowl, the Saints may come to regret the way they handled the most important position in sports.

Tom Brady is the last quarterback who can knock Drew Brees and his teammates out of the playoffs

No doubt one day Breeze will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. And his name deserves to be mentioned in any conversation about the greatest quarterbacks of all time (after Brady, of course). But despite all his accolades and his individual records, it’s fair to criticize Brees for his lack of success in the postseason.

Although the Saints haven’t missed the playoffs since 2016, they’re still a long way from winning a championship. Their 2017 season ended disastrously for them thanks to Case Keenum and Stefon Diggs’ 61-yard touchdown run late in regulation, sending Brees and his teammates home with a Divisional Round loss. The following season also ended in a bitter defeat when the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Saints in overtime for the NFC Championship.

Brees once again led his team to the playoffs in 2019, but he lost a fumble and threw an interception in the Saints’ 26-20 loss to Kirk Cousins and the Vikings in the wild-card round.

His 2020 campaign did not go as well as expected.

Brees missed four games with an injury and he did not perform well in the most important game of the season. In a decisive game against Brady’s Buccaneers, Brees completed just 19 of 34 attempts for 134 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. His poor play was a major factor in the Saints missing the postseason for the fourth consecutive season. To sprinkle salt in the wound, Brady received his seventh Super Bowl ring in his first season with the Buccaneers.

Recent report on Brady should make Saints fans sick

.

Brees retired on the 15th. Anniversary of his signing with the Saints, officially retired from the NFL. But according to a recent article by Jeff Darlington, New Orleans fans wish he had left the game sooner. In fact, the truth about Brady’s Free Agency experience should make them uncomfortable.

I think people still underestimate how close Tom Brady was to signing with the New Orleans Saints before he ultimately chose the Bucks, Darlington said on ESPN Get Up . I know this is a statement that people will try to question. That’s right.

The Saints could fire Brees and build their career around the former New England Patriots star. But they didn’t. Instead, they signed Brees to a two-year, $50 million contract and were destroyed by Brady in the playoffs.

Sean Payton can’t look back and [not] say: I would have liked to have had Tom Brady last year because I could have had him for a few more years, Darlington said. I have no doubt that even though the Saints know they acted correctly, they still feel some regret – let’s call it regret – that Tom Brady is not their quarterback.

Should the Saints regret the way they handled the most important position in the sport?

Should Saints fans be upset that management chose Brees over Brady?

On the one hand, this decision made perfect sense. Breeze has been the face of the franchise for over a decade. He still seemed capable of playing at a high level in 2019, so it was no surprise that the Saints brought him back for another Super Bowl title shot. And we have to assume that the close relationship between Brees and Sean Payton also played a part in that equation.

But the Saints should regret the way they handled this position. Not only did they miss the opportunity to contract the greatest quarterback of all time, but they also did not plan well for life after Brees. Instead of having Brady for multiple seasons, they will enter training camp with Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill competing for the starting spot. Let’s just say the Buccaneers will have a decisive advantage over the Saints regardless of who wins this battle.

Ultimately, further work with Breeze produced no other results. If Winston or Hill don’t completely exceed expectations, they won’t bring the Lombardi Trophy to New Orleans.

Maybe Ian Book, the fourth pick in 2021, will be the starter. By then, Tom Brady may have eight Super Bowl rings in his collection.

Unfortunately for Saints fans, Drew Brees doesn’t even have two.

COMPARED TO: Michael Thomas has good reason to be concerned about Jameis Winston taking over New OrleansTom Brady is a polarizing figure in the history of the New England Patriots. While there is no doubting his talents, he also has a history of bullying his opponents, whether it was through the media, using Deflategate as an excuse to not shake the hand of a rival team owner, or of course, verbally abusing actual players on the field. Seems Tom Brady is a terrible person, right? Well, his actions have been well documented, but his recent comments on Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner, will have many fans shaking their heads, because it is the commissioner who has done the things that have led to the Patriots record breaking success..
