The Philadelphia Eagles are trying to blame their head coach for the selection of struggling second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts. They claim that they would have selected him if they had known he was going to be so bad.

The kc chiefs coach is a team that has been struggling with their second-year quarterback, Jalen Hurts. They are now blaming head coach Andy Reid for the selection of him.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2021 season hasn’t started well, and things are sure to get worse with Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the Kansas City Chiefs visiting Philadelphia in Week 4.

Following that, the Eagles face a stretch of games that would make most rational head coaches tremble. The Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Las Vegas Raiders are their opponents. They play the Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, and New Orleans Saints after a one-week break against the Detroit Lions.

On paper, it seems to be a lot of losses.

After Week 1, the Eagles were brought down to earth.

The Eagles have had a fantastic start to the season. They began the season with a resounding win against the Atlanta Falcons on the road in Week 1.

Everything went off without a hitch. Jalen Hurts had a good day. DeVonta Smith had a touchdown reception. The defense performed well. For first-year head coach Nick Sirianni and his new-look coaching staff, it was the ideal kind of start.

Things, on the other hand, took a turn for the worst in Week 2.

The Eagles struggled to an ugly defeat at home against the San Francisco 49ers before being blasted away by the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football. The offense, in especially, looked terrible. Hurts’ demands to be considered a franchise quarterback were rapidly dissipating.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ executive staff seems to have taken note and is now trying to shift responsibility to others.

Andy Reid was involved in the Eagles’ selection of Jalen Hurts.

According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, Andy Reid of Kansas City helped persuade the Eagles to select Hurts in 2020 despite the fact that Carson Wentz was already under contract.

To add to the link, Reid was involved in Philadelphia’s Hurts pre-draft preparation. According to insiders, the Eagles contacted Reid to obtain his assessment of Hurts and to explore the mechanics of selecting a guy of Hurts’ level to back up then-incumbent starter Carson Wentz. Reid has previous expertise in this field: When McNabb was established as Philly’s starter in 2007, he selected Kevin Kolb in the second round; in 2009, he added Michael Vick to the quarterback room; and in 2017, he teamed veteran Alex Smith with then-rookie Patrick Mahomes with the Chiefs.

Reid’s input has always been treasured by the Eagles, who sought it out before making a franchise-altering choice.

It’s an understatement to call Hurts’ drafting a “franchise-impacting choice.” The apparently innocuous second-round selection flipped the company totally upside down. It set off a chain reaction that culminated in the trade of Carson Wentz, the firing of coaches, and a full-scale reconstruction.

So, if you’re the Eagles, why are you disclosing this information now? Why wasn’t Reid’s influence acknowledged when the Eagles selected Hurts in the first round in 2020?

Preservation.

The Eagles’ general manager, Howie Roseman, has a reputation for shifting responsibility to others when things go wrong. He’s already been through three head coaching changes, including Reid’s.

Although it is still early, the Hurts experiment seems to be failing. His arm strength is a significant flaw, and his decision-making against the 49ers and Cowboys was erratic. Roseman may deflect some of the responsibility away from himself and onto a well-respected NFL intellect that few would dispute if he mentions Reid’s influence.

Anyone anyone in Philadelphia getting the sense that the wheels are about to come off the bus?
