Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin Drops Honest Take After Disturbing Jon Gruden Situation Unfolds

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is a no-nonsense type of guy. He has been with the team for over 10 years and has seen his fair share of ups and downs. On Monday night, he was faced with an interesting situation that required him to be honest about how he felt.

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was caught in an embarrassing situation on Monday Night Football. Tomlin was asked about his opinion on Jon Gruden’s recent comments about players kneeling during the national anthem. He responded with a candid take that has since gone viral.

The commotion surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders is at an all-time high, after the resignation of head coach Jon Gruden following a series of emails including racial stereotypes. Rich Bisaccia, the special teams coordinator and associate head coach, was appointed interim head coach in Las Vegas for the rest of the season.

Despite all that has occurred in the days preceding up to Gruden’s departure from the Raiders, the Raiders will now get straight to work. As is to be anticipated, reactions are all over the place. On Tuesday, Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, talked with media about the Gruden issue and was candid about his former colleague and mentor.

Mike Tomlin was devastated by Gruden’s death.

“It simply makes me sad.” I’m sorry about the Raiders’ situation. I am sorry for anyone who were upset by it. I’m sorry for Coach Gruden’s loss. It’s a depressing observation. At this point, that’s the only viewpoint I’d want to express.”

Mike Tomlin took over as Raiders head coach after Jon Gruden quit.

It’s been an unpleasant scenario, and Gruden’s career as an NFL coach is now in jeopardy as a result of the recent developments. Tomlin didn’t want to go into too much detail, particularly given their close friendship, but he did say that he was “saddened.”

In Week 2, the Steelers played the Raiders, and Gruden’s side came out on top in what might be the last meeting between the two Super Bowl-winning head coaches.

The mentor, Gruden

Mike Tomlin spoke earlier this year about what he learned as a rookie assistant under Jon Gruden. “I’m really devastated about it,” the #Steelers coach says when asked about him today. He expresses his “sadness” for the #Raiders organization, people who have been insulted, and “Coach Gruden.”

Gruden is recognized for grooming a number of NFL head coaches, with Tomlin being one of the most successful. Tony Dungy recruited Tomlin to join the Bucs’ coaching staff in the early 2000s. The next season, Gruden took over as head coach and retained Tomlin on his staff, working with him every step of the way.

Tomlin is still one of the finest head coaches in the NFL and has had a lot of success with the Steelers almost two decades later. Tomlin’s résumé includes a Super Bowl triumph against the Arizona Cardinals in 2009, when he became the youngest head coach in NFL history to win the Lombardi Trophy.

It’s no surprise that Tomlin has a soft spot for Gruden, and one can only imagine how tough it was for him to respond to the Raiders’ head coach’s recent discoveries.

What does the future hold for the Raiders?

The repercussions in Las Vegas over the coming several weeks will be explosive. Players and coaches have voiced their displeasure with Gruden’s discovery, and Rich Bisaccia has a difficult job in restoring trust in the locker room. Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson was one of the first to criticize Gruden when he resigned, and there will be many more as the issue develops.

On the field, Las Vegas has lost two consecutive games while scoring just 23 points, and coping with this situation is difficult for any club to overcome.

They’re regressing after an unbeaten start to the season that ended in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, and Bisaccia has an impossible task in putting the players back together in time for a divisional game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
