Starship Troopers: Terran Command Review — Would You Like To, No More?

Starship Troopers: Terran Command is a new science fiction action game that pits humanity against the alien Arachnid threat. In this reviewer’s opinion, it takes everything from the original movie and turns it into an entertaining mobile experience.

The “Starship Troopers: Terran Command Review” is a video game that was released in November of 2018. The game is based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein and features a first-person shooter style gameplay with an objective to destroy all enemies.

I had a ball seeing Starship Troopers at the theater when it first came out in 1997. After that, I learned that it was based on a book I didn’t really like when I read it. A few films have since been made, but none of them have ever come close to the original. The new strategy game Starship Troopers: Terran Command from The Aristocrats and Slitherine is brought up as a result.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command won’t make you rethink your mind if other media based on the license have let you down in the past. It’s possible that it’s among the blandest games I’ve ever played in this wide-ranging genre.

Would You Like To, No More? : Terran Command Review of Starship Troopers

Terran Command is established on the planet Klendathu in Starship Troopers. The United Citizen Federation and the Arachnids are still at war (aka. the Bugs). The Bug homeworld, which is magnificently shown in the movie, is really the introduction or lesson to an agonizingly drawn-out campaign.

You’ll be in charge of the troops at the mining settlement of Kwalasha after a terrible retreat. Kwalasha, while being overtaken by the Arachnids, serves as a way of reinforcing the war machine as the Earth gets ready for a fresh onslaught. You will next proceed to explore barren areas and dim caves that are identical to earlier sites.

The Infantry Mobile


In Starship Troopers: Terran Command, you’ll command a variety of forces, from dependable Marines and sneaky Snipers to deadly Marauders and Rocket Troopers, to battle the danger posed by arachnids. Each unit has a certain talent or ability that may be employed, and as they advance in level, you may also unlock new skills. For instance, Fleet Liaisons may order airstrikes, and MK. II Troopers can drop grenades in a constrained space.

Some of the meanest eight-legged animals in the galaxy are arrayed against you, including lethal Plasma Grenadiers, beam-blasting Scorpions, savage Tigers, and highly armored Tankers. The majority of missions also include nests and hives that produce continual reinforcements until they are eliminated.

You could believe that there is enough adversary diversity there. Unfortunately, virtually nothing about the game genuinely seems interesting or original. The campaign’s second half may be where things start to become interesting, but the first few missions will mostly need you to depend on tried-and-true strategies that are made more difficult by the game’s fundamental rules.

Between points A and B


The real-time strategy (RTS) game Starship Troopers: Terran Command doesn’t necessary require base development or place much emphasis on actions per minute (APM). You will, at most, decide to enhance your outpost so that you may deploy a variety of forces. The tactical use of your squads as you go from point to point, eliminating enemies until you reach a defendable position or the level’s climax, is further explored.

It gets very repetitious. While outside missions consist of one canyon or ravine after another, underground or subterranean missions consist of one small passage after another. Those are often followed by a basic defensive scene during which waves of monsters attack from all directions.

Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!


You remark, “It should be fun since there are a lot of bugs to kill,” and I hear you. No, not exactly. The “True Line of Sight” and “True Line of Fire” mechanisms, which are fundamentally incompatible with pathfinding and control difficulties, are mostly to blame for this.

the following units appear in Starship Troopers: Terran Command is unable to shoot when in motion. Before they may fire targets, they must come to a complete stop. Your troops simply won’t bother to shoot even if a buddy is being mauled if they go along a hallway or pathway where their line of fire is restricted. In essence, as you explore the globe, you’ll often need to precisely relocate them.

Alternatively, you may send a “Attack Move” command, which is rather popular in strategy games, by holding the CTRL key while right-clicking. But due of the disparity in unit ranges and the possibility of adversaries appearing from corners, there are many occasions when some of your men get lost or just go the wrong way. You will recognize how tiresome it gets if you lather, rinse, and repeat this while cautiously navigating maps.

Sadly, there are technological problems among the “bugs” here in addition to your extraterrestrial adversaries. Sometimes, when moving through entrances, through lanes, or in wide fields, units would just become stuck. Naturally, this also meant that no attacks would be possible. Even though I was lucky enough to not come into contact with it, we were informed that there was a horrible virus that caused units to get trapped within hives (and hopefully, it will get squashed).

The Verdict on Starship Troopers: Terran Command




  • The original movie’s campy vibe is preserved through the very brief cinematics.
  • may be exhilarating and exciting at times, particularly when you have to choose a defensive position to get rid of swarms of aliens.
  • Some unit skills are just amazing.


  • tedious and repetitive marketing.
  • a stop-and-go strategy caused by a dependence on line of sight and line of fire that is excessive.
  • Units becoming trapped and problems with pathfinding.
  • There is no multiplayer aspect.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command is ultimately very unpolished. It’s a frustrating experience given the shoddy level design and fundamental gameplay. But keep in mind that this is mostly a single-player game with no cooperative or competitive multiplayer elements. You’ll repeatedly use the same strategies, hear the same speech lines, and gaze around the same settings.

To be honest, there may be some exciting moments, such as when you must protect a base from an endless horde or flee from a group of mobs pursuing you. The bulk of your run, though, will be more monotonous than the Starship Troopers movie sequels.

You may think of it as the United Citizen Federation asking: “Would you wish to…” You’ll reply, “No more,” before that inquiry is done however.
