Patrick Mahomes’ Superstitious Pregame Routine Dates Back to His High School Football Days

Patrick Mahomes is a professional football player for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was born in Texas and went to high school in Tyler, Texas. As a young man, he had a pregame routine that involved wearing his favorite shirt and having his grandmother rub chalk on his hands.

Patrick Mahomes is a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. He has been nicknamed Showtime because of his flashy plays and touchdown celebrations. Before each game, he does something that dates back to his high school football days. Read more in detail here: when was patrick mahomes born.

Since Patrick Mahomes took over as head coach, the Kansas City Chiefs have become a force to be reckoned with. Many expected him to lead the Chiefs back to the Super Bowl this season, where they would face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Mahomes’ second Super Bowl victory.

Despite the Chiefs’ 2-2 record and last-place position in the AFC West, there is still time for a comeback. Even Mahomes’ superstitious pregame ritual may be able to help the squad pull off a comeback.

Mahomes, who was selected in the first round as the 10th overall selection in 2017, has been a huge success for the Chiefs. Since taking over as Kansas City’s primary quarterback from Alex Smith, the superstar has led the club to two Super Bowl victories.

This was noteworthy since it was the team’s first participation in Super Bowl LIV in 50 years. It was also Kansas City’s first Super Bowl win. That wasn’t all, however.

A year later, in Super Bowl LV, the up-and-comer led the club back for another appearance. Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on the other hand, were victorious.

That hasn’t stopped Mahomes from being ranked as the top NFL quarterback in 2021.

“Mahomes is king again at age 25 and may not be dethroned for a long time,” according to Sporting News, citing his number-one rating as an NFL quarterback in 2021. That puts him ahead of Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady, who are almost 20 years older and have played in fewer games than Mahomes.

In 2020, the reigning quarterback had some noteworthy numbers that contributed to this rating. They include “4,299 passing yards, 48 passing touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 121.5 passer rating, 84.4 QBR, 8.2 yards per attempt, 149 rushing yards, and 3 rushing touchdowns,” as well as “121.5 passer rating, 84.4 QBR, 8.2 yards per attempt, 149 rushing yards, and 3 rushing TDs.”

Patrick Mahomes’ pregame routine is unaffected by the weather.

Mahomes shared a sports superstition he has believed in since his junior year of high school, but he doesn’t consider it a routine.

“I don’t have any pregame rituals, but I’ve always worn one sleeve in every game I’ve ever started.” Mahomes told Arrowhead Addict, “That’s pretty much the only superstitious thing I do.”

“It dates back to my junior year in high school, when I joined the varsity squad for the first time.” When it was only 11 degrees in Denver, I was out there with a single sleeve.”

Mahomes’ uniform decision will be hard to ignore now that you know he wears one short sleeve and one long sleeve in every game.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was on his way to become a baseball player.

The athlete’s superstitious regimen was exposed in the Arrowhead Addict interview. It also revealed a different route that did not lead to NFL greatness.

Pat Mahomes, his father, was a great professional baseball player who played from 1992 to 2003. Growing up seeing his father play baseball inspired a young Mahomes to pursue a career in the sport.

“As a youngster, I always wanted to be a baseball player,” Mahomes said. “However, when I got older and began to fall in love with football, I concentrated completely on it.” I believe it was during my junior season that I began to make a name for myself in football.”

Despite the fact that the great athlete would have excelled in baseball, Chiefs supporters are happy he didn’t.
