Patrick Mahomes Can Send a Brutal Message to the Ravens Which Could Cause Them to Quietly Worry About Lamar Jackson

Patrick Mahomes has been on a tear this season. In the last three games, he has thrown for 1,876 yards and 17 touchdowns. He is now tied with Tom Brady for the most touchdown passes in the NFL.

Patrick Mahomes can send a brutal message to the Ravens which could cause them to quietly worry about Lamar Jackson. The when was patrick mahomes born is when Patrick Mahomes will take his next step in his career.

The matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson is rapidly establishing itself as one of the most exciting in professional sports.

Mahomes and Jackson, two rookie quarterbacks on two of the greatest AFC teams in the league, have already impressed NFL fans by duking it out on the field. The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are widely regarded as two of the top AFC contenders in the next decade.

The only issue with this “rivalry” is that there isn’t much of a rivalry right now. Mahomes is unbeaten versus Jackson heading into their Week 2 matchup on Sunday Night Football.

Lamar Jackson has never beaten Patrick Mahomes.

If the Chiefs win again in Week 2, the Ravens may be faced with a tough decision:

Is Jackson capable of dethroning Mahomes and the Chiefs?

Before we go too far into this, it’s worth noting that Jackson is still one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league right now. In 2019, he was named league MVP, and he began 2021 with a 300-yard effort against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite his below-average throwing abilities at times, most NFL clubs would do everything to have Jackson on their roster. He has the makings of a “franchise quarterback” kind of player.

Mahomes, on the other hand, is a different kind of special. He won a Super Bowl ring in less than two seasons and is well on his way to being a first-ballot Hall of Famer. If Mahomes keeps on his current pace, he will break the majority of the NFL’s all-time throwing records.

It’s never a smart idea to construct your roster with another team in mind, but the Chiefs’ dominance in the AFC is difficult to ignore. They are without a doubt the team to beat and the greatest obstacle in the path of the Ravens’ Super Bowl aspirations.

Is there any reason for the Ravens to be concerned?

Heading into Sunday Night Football, the Chiefs are riding an 11-game winning run on the road, which is the longest current stretch in the NFL. They’ve won 15 of their past 16 road games, averaging 30 points per game over that span. That’s very nice! #Saturday

Should the Ravens be concerned about Jackson if he loses against Mahomes for the fourth time?

The short answer is no. Yes, in a long way. Jackson is a strong quarterback regardless of his win-loss record against Mahomes, but the Ravens must find a way to beat the Chiefs as quickly as possible.

Unless something unexpected happens, the Ravens will have to travel through Kansas City at some point during the Lamar Jackson era if they want a chance at the Super Bowl.

What does this imply for Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and the rest of the team?

A fourth straight victory against Jackson confirms Mahomes’ reputation as the greatest quarterback in the AFC. A tiny seed of uncertainty about Jackson’s future in Baltimore may be placed in the Ravens’ minds.

Jackson is eligible for a contract extension, but the Ravens have yet to sign him (Pro Football Talk). This isn’t a major issue. The Ravens’ front staff, on the other hand, did not leap at the chance to pay Jackson $200 million or more.

Could another season of failure for Mahomes and the Chiefs persuade the Ravens to seek elsewhere for a quarterback in the future? Maybe.

Pro Football Reference provided all stats.

If it weren’t for the Kansas City Chiefs’ very risky trade, Patrick Mahomes would have almost teamed up with an NFL legend.
