CD Projekt Red recently announced that Cyberpunk 2077will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with no mention of a PC release, which was a topic of discussion a few weeks ago. While a PC release is a possibility, there’s little movement on an update to their free-to-play, multiplayer RPG, The Witcher 3.
Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming title from CD Projekt RED, has been in development for at least a decade now, leaving fans with many questions. Has the game been delayed? Has it been axed entirely? When can we expect to see it? And finally, what are the chances of it being released before the end of the decade?
Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development hell for a few years now, but it looks like the game’s developer is finally getting it done. Last year, CD Projekt Red announced the game would be getting a 2018 release date, and this year, the developer revealed it has begun work on Cyberpunk 2077’s first story trailer, which is planned to be released before the end of this year.
In its most recent earnings call, CD Projekt RED said that the next-gen upgrades for Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher 3 may still happen in 2021. (thanks, Video Games Chronicle). However, vice president of business development Michal Nowakowski acknowledged he can’t guarantee it — or anything else for that matter.
The next-generation edition of Cyberpunk 2077 is expected to be released later this year. At the same time, given the lessons we’ve learnt over the last year and the fact that this project is still in development, we can’t guarantee that the production timeline won’t alter.
Though Nowakowski doesn’t state so, those “lessons” are most likely Cyberpunk 2077’s many bug issues and malfunctions, which forced Sony to ban the game from the PlayStation Network until recently due to its severity.
The next-gen update for The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch is being handled by Saber Interactive, but Nowakowski was not taking any risks.
“We can’t be confident the release timetable won’t alter,” he added. “For the time being, we are certainly shooting for late 2021 with both titles, and I don’t want to be more precise at this point.”
When Cyberpunk 2077 was launched in 2020, we considered it one of the greatest open-world experiences, with a virtually unrivaled visual experience, despite the flaws.
The Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer, released in late 2017, was full of futuristic technology. The game will take place in the dystopian megacity of Night City, which has been described by Cyberpunk 2020 creator Mike Pondsmith as “brutal, anti-social, and dirty.” The teaser features a few glimpses of this world, including a glimpse at what appears to be a motorcycle riding cyborg. The game will be built on the same engine that powered The Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red’s award-winning open world RPG. The studio has already confirmed that it has full control over Cyberpunk 2077, but it hasn’t said when it will release.. Read more about cyberpunk 2077 ps5 upgrade and let us know what you think.
