Minecraft Legends Unites the Overworld in 2023

In 2023, the Minecraft Overworld unites when a massive event changes everything.

On June 12, Microsoft introduced Minecraft Legends as part of their Summer Games Fest 2022 presentation. The action-strategy game, which will debut in 2023, is a fresh take on the popular Minecraft premise. Although it will be available on PC, Xbox, Game Pass, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, there is currently no official release date outside of that timeframe.

The article’s header includes the first trailer. The story and mythology are introduced in the opening minutes, with the overworld coming together to fight a shared Piglin enemy that has invaded the world from another realm. It then transitions to some gameplay at at 1:36, including some horseback riding, base construction, fighting with some tower defense, and one significant explosion.

The project’s creator Mojang has teamed up with Blackbird Interactive, which has worked on Homeworld 3, Crossfire: Legion, and Hardspace: Shipbreaker.

Mojang has already ventured off the beaten path in the world of Minecraft. In case the name wasn’t clear, Minecraft Dungeons is an action-adventure dungeon crawling game that debuted in 2020 and is based in the world of Minecraft. We praised it for its “gameplay, four-player support on and off-line, vast and large, different levels” and agreed that we largely loved it.

Over ten years after its debut, the original Minecraft experience is still going strong. It just made its 1.19 Wild Update available.
