So, it took a while, but the Chicago Bears’ starting quarterback position is finally down to a final choice. The Bears will pick their man from one of two quarterbacks, Penn State sophomore Trace McSorley or Georgia junior quarterback Justin Fields, reports the Chicago Tribune. Both were highly regarded prospects who were projected to be the first quarterback chosen in the 2019 NFL Draft.
One of the greatest athletes in the history of the NFL, because of his relentless work ethic and leadership, is none other than Mike Ditka. As the former Chicago Bears head coach, he led the team to three Super Bowl victories. Now with the team out of the playoffs for the first time in four years, Ditka has made it clear that he’s excited to see the team’s young signal caller, Justin Fields, take the reins as the starting quarterback.
The Chicago Bears are set to start the season with new starting quarterback, as the team was able to secure the rights to Justin Fields, their top pick in th first round of the 2018 Draft. This means that Mike Ditka, their Hall of Fame linebacker and former coach, has endorsed the former Virginia QB as the starter for the season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.. The first face of Chicago Sports Mountain is Chicago Bears legend Mike Ditka. When he speaks, the Windy City listens, and he says Justin Fields should be the Bears’ starting QB.
Bears coach Matt Nagy insists he will stick with his plan and not use Fields in place of Andy Dalton right away. But when Ditka publicly expresses his displeasure with the Bears coach, he has to listen to him if he wants to keep his job.

Sid Luckman spent his entire career with the Chicago Bears from 1939 to 1950. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and is considered the best passer of his era. Since his retirement, 30 different quarterbacks have led the team in passer rating.
George Blanda will also be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but he only led the Bears in assists twice. Billy Wade (1963 – with Ditka as head receiver) and Jim McMahon (1985 – with Ditka as head coach) won championships in Chicago, but both led teams that won with impressive defense.
The Bears’ main signal-caller has been the polarizing Jay Cutler. In eight seasons at Soldier Field, the talented but volatile QB has thrown for 154 touchdowns and 109 against the opposition.
In 2017, the Bears traded four draft picks for the right to move up one spot and select freshman North Carolina energetic Mitchell Trubisky at number two. After four seasons in Chicago, including a Pro Bowl and playoff appearance among three disappointing seasons, the team got rid of Trubisky and made another bid in this year’s draft by taking Fields from Ohio State at No. 11.
Mike Ditka spoke with Justin Fields today about whether he should be the #Bears’ first round starter.
