When LeBron James signed with the Lakers this summer, he predicted that they would have one of the best teams in the NBA by the All-Star break. It’s only the end of December, but the Lakers are already well on their way to fulfilling the four-time NBA MVP’s lofty prediction. Los Angeles is off to an 18-5 start and sits atop the Western Conference standings. And although LeBron hasn’t been the Lakers’ best player in every game, he has put up some impressive stat lines—particularly in Tuesday’s win over the Phoenix Suns.

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Phoenix Suns in Game 2 of their first-round series on Thursday by a score of 122-112, but it was the get-up of Lakers star Anthony Davis that was the biggest story of the night. Davis, who broke his hand in an altercation with a teammate in the team’s fifth game of the season, wore a black protective wrap on his hand during the game, but it didn’t stop him from contributing 23 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks.

Last night, Anthony Davis had a strong game against the Phoenix Suns, scoring 32 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to help the Los Angeles Lakers to a 128-115 win and a 2-0 series lead.. Read more about sports and let us know what you think.

The Los Angeles Lakers, who desperately needed a win on Tuesday night, avoided a 2-0 defeat in their first-round game against the Phoenix Suns with a 109-102 victory thanks to strong performances from Anthony Davis and LeBron James. Davis was very hard on himself after his poor performance on Sunday, but he admitted his guilt and took full responsibility for the Lakers’ loss in Game 1. He played a great game in Game 2, which went exactly as LeBron predicted, and Los Angeles now has the home court advantage when the series moves to Staples Center.

Anthony Davis took full responsibility for the Lakers’ loss in thegame

. After averaging 21.8 points in the regular season, Davis couldn’t start anything in the Lakers’ first game, a loss against the second-seeded Suns. He made just 5-of-16 shots from the field and 3-of-5 from the free throw line. He scored 13 points in the 99-90 loss, the lowest point total of his postseason career. AD was quick to blame others though (h/t ESPN). I missed a lot of pitches. We missed many times as a team. The way I play, I can never win a game, let alone a series. I’ll pay for it. Anthony Davis While the loss in Game 1 certainly wasn’t entirely Davis’ fault, taking matters into his own hands was certainly a superstar move that LeBron seemed to appreciate when he made predictions about how his teammate would react.

In an 18-point game that had its ups and downs, LeBron scored a respectable 6 of 13 points, shot 3 of 7 from beyond the arc and added 10 rebounds and seven assists. But he also made just six shots from the free throw line, three of which he missed, and made five steals. After the game, James was asked about Davis’ comments, and he said that you can’t blame every loss on one player, but that he likes it when AD puts pressure on himself, and that he always has a reaction after a bad performance. And his prediction turned out to be right.

LeBron was not wrong in his prediction, as Davis scored 34 points in LA’s 2nd Game victory

. If the Lakers weren’t too aggressive in Game 1, Tuesday night was a different story, especially with Davis. After making just five free throws Sunday afternoon, AD forced the Suns into foul trouble by constantly attacking the rim in Game 2, leading to 21 free throws, 18 of which he made. Davis scored 34 points in the win, going 7-of-15 from the field, and added 10 rebounds and seven assists. After LeBron, who had a great game with 23 points and nine assists, hit a 3-pointer to give the Lakers a 95-92 lead with 2:40 remaining in the game, Davis hit his own 3-pointer 25 seconds later to give Los Angeles a six-point lead. James and Davis scored 16 of the Lakers’ final 20 points in the game’s final moments. Game 3 between the Lakers and Suns is Thursday night at 10 p.m. East/7:00. Pacific at Staples Center and will be broadcast on TNT.
