Kyrie Irving Still Bashing Boston Celtics Fans, Referring to Them as ‘Cockroaches’

Kyrie Irving has been on a hot streak since joining the Boston Celtics, but he’s still not over his time spent in Cleveland. “I will never be back,” Kyrie tweeted last week and added that the Cavaliers’ game against Boston was played by “cockroaches.” The NBA quickly released a statement saying they would tell Irving to tone down the rhetoric or face fines.

Kyrie Irving has been an outspoken critic of the Boston Celtics, and he still isn’t done with them. The Cleveland Cavaliers point guard recently referred to the team as “cockroaches” on ESPN’s “The Jump.” Read more in detail here: espn.

Kyrie Irving was fined a few weeks ago for insulting Boston Celtics fans during the Brooklyn Nets’ first-round playoff matchup at TD Garden. Irving and the Nets were quickly dispatched by the Celtics, who swept them in four games.

Celtics supporters continued to boo and criticize Irving throughout the game, the former Celtics player who fell out of favor with the fan base after two disastrous seasons in Boston. Irving didn’t help himself by pointing two middle fingers to the supporters in response to the jeers.

Even though Irving’s season is over, the trolls continue to attack him, and he continues to pay attention to them.

Kyrie Irving and Celtics supporters do not mix well.

Celtics supporters are devoted, passionate, and hard to please. Irving has seen the Boston crowd’s good, terrible, and ugly sides. It will continue as long as he responds to the supporters and encourages them.

He left the organization through free agency two years after telling a gathering of Celtics supporters at a season-ticket member event that he would re-sign with the team. Celtics supporters despised him at the time of his departure.

Irving was brought in as a seasoned leader for Boston’s young guns, Jayson Tatum and Jayson Brown. It never took place. In his two years with the Celtics, injuries, attitude, and bad performance all played a role.

Irving was out for the whole playoffs in his first season due to a left knee injury. In the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics took LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to seven games.

Irving struggled tremendously in the playoffs in his second season. The Celtics won the first game against the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals before losing four consecutive. In the series, Irving struggled with his shooting. Many Celtics supporters were turned off by his response.

Irving was questioned about his shooting troubles after the Celtics fell down 3-1 in Game 4 against the Bucks. He went 19-for-62 from the field in Games 2-4. In Game 4, he went 7-for-22.

According to CBS Sports, he responded, “Who cares?”

Kyrie Irving continues to poke fun at Celtics supporters.

“‘Go back to Cleveland, oh my God, Boston despises you, oh my God,’ says the character. Cockroaches, that’s how you sound to me.”

Irving was streaming the video game “Grand Theft Auto” on Twitch on Monday. Of course, the comments area was flooded with trolls. Several of them were Celtics’ supporters.

Irving ridiculed the comments instead of ignoring them.

“‘Oh Kyrie, what are you doing at home?” Irving sarcastically said, mimicking Celtics fans in a petulant tone. “That’s how you guys come across to me.” ‘Oh, you’re heading home, to Cancun?’ You’re at home, right? Kyrie, you’re a jerk.’

‘What are you up to?’ Return to Cleveland, please. Boston despises you, oh my God.’ That’s how you guys come across to me. Cockroaches. That’s how you guys come across to me.”

Irving encourages it.

Remember, it was Irving who stomped on the Celtics logo after the Nets defeated the Celtics in Game 4 of the playoffs last year. It was Irving who brought up “subtle racism” when asked about making his return to Boston as an opponent for the first time with fans in the stands.

With his acts, he initiates the remarks. His time in Boston will be a thing of the past if he leaves things alone. Irving always answers, which is what keeps this hate-hate relationship going.

Celtics supporters are having the final laugh.

Irving’s logo stomp last year was a “screw you” to Celtics supporters. Victory in Boston was wonderful, as it put his club up 3-1 in the series. The Celtics were eliminated the next game in Brooklyn.

The Celtics finished with a 36-36 record. The Nets, who featured Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden, were the No. 2 seed in the East.

The roles were turned this year, as the Celtics erupted in the second half of the season, going on a 26-6 run to finish second in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics faced Irving’s Nets, who finished eighth in the Eastern Conference following a year marred by controversy.

Irving was unable to participate in home games for the most of the season due to his lack of COVID-19 vaccination. Harden was dealt for Ben Simmons, a dissatisfied player who never played for the Nets. With a four-game sweep, Boston made easy work of the Nets.

Boston’s future looks bright with Tatum and Brown. Irving and the Brooklyn Nets are not in the same boat.

In Boston, Kyrie Irving is hoping for something he’ll never get.
