When it was announced that Devin Booker would be playing on Team USA for this summer’s World Cup of Basketball, he was excited to be able to play with some of his former teammates. Booker was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2015 and played his first four seasons in the NBA with the team. Just over a week ago, Devin Booker was playing for the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Finals. He’s now playing for Team USA Basketball with Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday, two Milwaukee Bucks players who defeated him in the series.
So, what’s Booker’s take on it? It’s got to be a bit unsettling, right? While in the Tokyo Olympics, the two-time NBA All-Star addressed the issue.
After losing in the NBA Finals, Devin Booker is now a member of Team USA basketball.
During the 2021 NBA playoffs, Booker and the Suns enjoyed a spectacular postseason run. The Suns swept the Denver Nuggets in the semifinals and beat the Los Angeles Clippers in six games in the Western Conference Finals after defeating the reigning champion Los Angeles Lakers in six games in the first round.
The Suns then got off to a fast start in the NBA Finals, racing out to a 2-0 lead against the Milwaukee Bucks, but Milwaukee rallied to win the series in six games. Booker led the series with 28.2 points per game, but Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo earned Finals MVP with 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
Booker, on the other hand, joined Team USA basketball only days later to attempt to make a run at the Tokyo Olympics. Are you also a member of the group? The Bucks’ Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. In the finals, Middleton averaged 24.0 points per game, while Holiday averaged 16.7 points per game.

Booker, Middleton, and Holiday shared a private aircraft to Tokyo days after the NBA Finals and one day after the Bucks’ title parade. They’ve subsequently competed in two Olympic games together, with the United States winning one and losing the other.
“I’m a forward thinker who can go on to the next thing and take my L and move on,” Booker told The Athletic on July 28.
Booker acknowledged that “it’s not going to be easy to ever ever have the chance to be” in the NBA Finals again, but he has no animosity against Middleton and Holiday.
According to The Athletic, he stated, “The memories are there, but it’s nothing personal between us.” “We lost, and I’m strong enough to accept it and go on.” There isn’t any animosity against Jrue or K Mid.”
Booker also addressed the issue with Squad USA basketball player Draymond Green, who shared a team with Kyrie Irving at the 2016 Olympics after Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in the finals.
According to The Athletic, Booker stated, “I was talking about it with Draymond, and he was emphasizing the idea that it’s not going to be easy to go back to the finals.” “I remember us as a team discussing that in the locker room after we lost — you know, it’s going to be much tougher to get to where we were at….” But I’m looking forward to it. It was fantastic. I’m happy I had the chance to do it; I clearly got the short end of the stick, but that’s life.”
Devin Booker and the Bucks’ players have a chance to help Team USA win gold in basketball at the Tokyo Olympics.
Team USA needs all the assistance it can get, so it’s a good thing Booker doesn’t appear to have any issues with his new, and temporary, comrades.
Without Booker, Middleton, or Holiday, the US went 2-2 in exhibition play before losing 83-76 to France in the Olympic opening. Despite the fact that the three stars played France and Holiday led the team with 18 points, they didn’t get at their hotel until 1 a.m. the next day.
Booker got 16 points, Middleton had 10, and Holiday had eight in the team’s second game against Iran, which the Americans won 120-66.
Team USA’s basketball team will have a tough fight in Tokyo, but Booker, Middleton, and Holiday have already had successful tournament runs this year. They have the ability to do it again.
