Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, was on his way back home from a flight to New York when he was approached by Mike Tyson’s crew. After their interaction turned violent, Dave decided to share it with Twitter in order to get some advice about how best proceed next time.
Mike Tyson was a fighter who had a lot of talent, but he also had some issues. One of the problems that he had was his temper. He would often get into fights with people in public places, and one time even got into a fight on an airplane. Read more in detail here: mike tyson as a kid.
Dave Portnoy, the president and creator of Barstool Sports, grew up as a devotee of Mike Tyson. Tyson enthralled the boxing community with his devastating blows and lightning-fast knockouts. Twelve of the former world heavyweight champion’s first 19 professional victories were by way of knockout.
In order to appear as a guest on the Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson podcast this week, Portnoy was flying via helicopter. He got a text from Tyson’s team in the middle of the trip, which, to be honest, made Portnoy a bit anxious.
Thanks to the text message he received from Mike Tyson’s team, Dave Portnoy can finally chuckle.

To meet Tyson, Portnoy was eager. He claimed to have vivid memories of Tyson’s famous boxing career. He could perhaps recall too much, in fact.
On Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson, Portnoy said, “To be really honest, I recall the most of the career.” “I remember everything. I could enter the game’s code right now to jump to the bout in “Mike Tyson’s Punchout” — 0073735963. I could reach you with it.
Despite using a helicopter to go to the podcast, Portnoy said that a mid-flight SMS made him nervous about the scheduled encounter.
Portnoy stated, “I had to use a helicopter to get here. “Mike may not be here, according to a text I received in the chopper. He’s feeling down. What the f*** does it even imply, I ask? Mike Tyson is going to be in a mood, and it is the last thing you want to hear. I feel absolutely heavenly.
“I’m like, flip the chopper around, as someone who grew up watching Mike Tyson. He has a bad mood. He’s coming, but we don’t know what you’re getting, comes three seconds later. What the f*** am I heading into here, I wonder.
Portnoy at least obtained a memento from the transaction.
He remarked of his messages, “I screenshot them. “I’m going to save these messages I just received forever,” the user said.
Tyson has consistently been a well-liked public figure. Additionally, he is quite active on social media. He just is unaware of it.
18.9 million Instagram users follow Tyson. He was completely unaware that he had an Instagram account.
“Mike, are you on Instagram?” Portnoy enquired.
The only thing I know how to do, if I am, is turn it on, Tyson remarked.
Portnoy also mentioned going to prison in opposition to Tom Brady’s suspension due to the purported deflation of footballs.
I’m a huge Tom Brady fan, added Portnoy. “Me and three other people chained ourselves to each other at NFL headquarters when Tom Brady was punished for deflategate and demanded to speak to (Roger) Goddell. That’s bulls*** what he was suspended for. We went to prison. We spent the night in custody.
Tyson didn’t display his emotions to Portnoy and those over 19 million Instagram followers, whom he is unaware of, on that particular day.
