4 Players You Need to Bet Right Now to Win at St. Andrews

Gambling at St. Andrews is an old tradition that dates back to the 17th century, but it had its heyday when gambling there was legal in Scotland. It has since been illegal, and now only a few people still play because of the strict laws against betting on sports matches in the country. However, recently some Scottish politicians are rekindling hopes for legalized gambling once again so players can get their fix without breaking any rules!

The “open championship predictions 2022” is a good way to get an idea of which players you should bet on for the 2019 Open Championship.

This weekend, the 150th Open Championship at the storied Old Course at St. Andrews brings golf back to its original origins. Let’s look at the four players you must have on your outright card for what should be an exciting Open since I know you’re eager to see some action on the fourth and final major of the year.

+1600 Jordan Spieth

This week, I’m avoiding the 10/1 and 14/1 odds on Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, respectively. There’s no denying that these two are in a league of their own right now, but I’m not willing to pay top dollar for a player who hasn’t won a major since 2014 or another who hasn’t even claimed a single major title.

Jordan Spieth, though, is my favorite outright wager at the top of the odds board at 16/1.

Spieth has previously won the Open Championship, and he has excelled on the links throughout his career. Spieth has four top-10 finishes and has never missed a cut in eight Open appearances. When The Open was last played at St. Andrews in 2015, he placed T4 and was only one stroke away from a playoff.

Spieth is a golf historian who performs at his best on the most renowned courses (Augusta National, Pebble Beach, Muirfield Village). The 28-year-old winning the 150th Open Championship at the most prestigious course in the world would be entirely in line with who she is as a player.

+4500 Louis Oosthuizen

Since joining the PGA Tour’s mass exodus to LIV Golf, Louis Oosthuizen has been rather quiet. However, this is the ideal week for him to prove to the world that he still belongs among golf’s top.

Oosthuizen must come in first if you are rating the competitors in this year’s field according to how well they would fit in at St. Andrews. The South African not only won the Open Championship at the Old Course in 2010, but he also came in second place in 2015 after falling to Zach Johnson in a playoff.

In terms of genuine strokes gained at St. Andrews, Oosthuizen leads the field (+4.31, according to Data Golf), so it would be surprising if he wasn’t still in contention on Sunday.

5000 Tony Finau

Tony Finau is one of the finest golfers in the world but does not have a major victory to his credit. However, I believe this week is ideal for him to win his maiden major championship. With his low ball flight and ability to line up wedges to almost every par-4 on this course, Finau will be able to navigate the strong winds in Scotland. It will all depend on his putting since he is also a superb iron player this season.

the positive news Overseas, Finau has had some of his finest putting weeks. The American has two top-10 finishes and hasn’t finished worse than 27th in five Open Championship appearances. Due to his recent missed cut at the U.S. Open, his 50/1 pricing is inflated despite the fact that he performs best in challenging, windy conditions.

Tony, time is now.

+15000 Jordan Smith

*{padding:0;margin:0;overflow:hidden} HTML, body, height: 100%; img, span, position: absolute; width: 100%; top 0; bottom 0; margin auto text-align:center;font:48px/1.5 sans-serif;color:white;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black;span height:1.5em><span>▶</span>

Let’s enjoy ourselves by taking a really long shot, shall we?

Jordan Smith is one of the top links golfers in the world right now, despite the fact that the majority of golf fans have never ever heard of him. Smith has finished this year with six top-12s and two runner-up finishes while competing on the DP World Tour. Prior to a Sunday 74 that dropped him to a tie for 24th place in the Scottish Open, he had played three consecutive rounds under par.

Smith is a great ball striker and currently has the highest percentage of greens in regulation on the DP World Tour (74.26%). He’ll keep the ball in play, pound the St. Andrews greens, and if his putter heats up over the course of the weekend, you’ll want to have his 150/1 pricing stashed away for Sunday.
