The NFL released the full schedule for all 32 teams on Thursday, and now we’re looking ahead to 2022. The New Orleans Saints will open their season in Week 1 at home against Atlanta Falcons. Their matchup with the Baltimore Ravens is slated for a week 17 rematch where they’ll battle it out as both hope to make it into one of the playoffs spots.

Jameis Winston will return to the New Orleans Saints’ starting lineup for the 2022 NFL season after recovering from a season-ending ACL rupture. After missing the whole 2021 season, Michael Thomas will be on the receiving end of a lot of passes. Following a year in which he rushed for 1,337 yards and nine touchdowns from scrimmage, Alvin Kamara will attempt to reestablish himself as a great running back.
Will it be enough for the Saints to improve on their 9-8 record from last season and qualify for the playoffs as either the NFC South division champions or a wild-card representative?
The upcoming draft class should be of assistance. Chris Olave is poised to make an early impact at wide receiver after scoring 13 touchdowns on 65 receptions during his last season at Ohio State, while Trevor Penning, if he can handle the change from FBS to the NFL, may have an immediate impact on the offensive line.
However, this is still about the established players in New Orleans, who will all be under pressure to make a seamless transition from Sean Payton to Dennis Allen. New Orleans has reached the playoffs in nine of Payton’s 15 seasons as head coach, and this might be the team’s first postseason appearance since Jim Haslett led the team to a 10-6 record in 2000.
